My hobbies include guitar playing, collecting music, reading, playing computer and video games, and I sneak in a few shows and movies now and then. I’m a fan of geeky entertainment like superheroes, sci-fi, fantasy, aliens, ghosts, and all the -ologies (psychology, philosophy, parapsychology, etc.). For music I’m drawn to alt/rock/indie, electronic/dance, and classical/baroque/soundtracks. I’m very picky about the music I like. It can’t be too mainstream or artsy (though I lean more towards the artsy/prog side of the spectrum). If there are vocals they need to be clean, no rap, screaming or growling.
Aside from those things, I always try to carve out time for skill building through online courses, technical books, or practicing coding through small projects. Subjects are mostly related to computer science, programming, math, data science, and general IT related subjects like virtualization, infrastructure, networking, etc.
Even with all that, time spent with family is always a priority, I sneak in some aerobic exercise when I can, or maybe some meditation. I have a long commute to and from work, so when I’m driving I usually listen to audiobooks, podcasts, or music if I just need to think. Mostly I’m just trying to learn, grow, love, live a balanced life, and have a little fun in the process. That’s the dream right?
